Massage Therapist Internship
One of the many strengths of a Salter education is our internship program. Toward the end of your training, you will have the opportunity to work in our on-site Massage Therapy spa, where you will get to apply the skills you have learned in the classroom. You will get to practice client assessment, clinical massage therapy, record keeping, and other on-the-job duties. The internships are supervised, so you will have guidance along the way. The internship provides you with real-world experience in your new field, and helps build confidence in your new skills. This is one of the many reasons that Salter graduates come prepared to their first job.

Certifications and Licenses for Massage Therapists
At the Salter School, we encourage you to pursue a nationally-recognized certification and to apply for a massage therapist license as you near graduation. Certification shows that you have proven skills. Employers who are looking for massage therapists often prefer to hire applicants who are certified. Getting certified may also result in better job opportunities, higher pay, and more job security.
Students who perform successfully in our Massage Therapist program will be prepared to sit for the following exam:
For most of our campuses, certification exams are held at an off-campus location, and are not covered in your tuition.
In order to practice in Massachusetts, you will also need to obtain a license through the Massachusetts Board of Registration of Massage Therapy. Our staff can help guide you through the process of applying for your license.
Remember, getting certified and licensed can enhance your resume and put you in a position for better career opportunities. It’s worth the effort!
