Considering Massage Therapy school? Salter’s courses for the Massage Therapy training program will prepare you with the techniques and hands-on experience you need to start your new career. The coursework is designed to help students prepare for certification in the field of massage therapy. Read below to find out about some of the classes you will take.

  • The Science of Touch
    This course is an introduction to therapeutic massage. Students explore professional touch as a therapeutic tool and review the research about the effects of massage. The course covers universal precautions, health related issues, and wellness education.
  • The Art of Massage Therapy

    This course introduces the Art of Massage. In this course, students will learn how to prepare for massage, as well as the supplies and equipment that are necessary. They will also study correct positioning and draping. This course will emphasize the techniques that massage therapists should use to prevent self-injury.

  • Law & Ethics for Massage

    This course acquaints students with law and ethics for the field of massage therapy as directed by the American Massage Therapy Association and the National Certification for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork. Many aspects of the therapeutic relationship will be covered in this course.

  • Kinesiology & Myology

    This course presents the physiological, anatomical, and neuromuscular principles of human movement with practical application for massage therapy. The area of focus for this course is the hips, shoulders, and upper extremities.

The courses at Salter prepare our graduates to start a career in the exciting field of health and wellness. The curriculum culminates in an internship in which the students have the opportunity to put their new skills to work in a real spa setting.
